Fly this mini quadcopter. It’s a fixed-wing drone. It’s the Parrot Swing Hybrid Minidrone/Plane. This package includes a Flypad controller for precise control of the Parrot Swing.
The Swing is capable of playing two positions. And it has movie star good looks, too, with its X-wing space-fighter shape.
Like today’s most advanced fighter planes, the Parrot Swing takes off and lands vertically. And once it’s in the air, just as the exhausts on billion-dollar fighters do, it swings into a horizontal position and flies like a plane.
Parrot Swing is purely a fun flying machine. It’s a great, affordable introduction to radio-controlled flying. It is not a flying camera.
The Parrot Swing Hybrid Minidrone/Plane with Flypad features:
Takeoff is easy: Place the swing on a flat surface, propellers facing up, and press a button.
To convert the Swing from a quadcopter into a plane that flies horizontally, just press another button.
Want to perform aerial acrobatics? Easy, press a button, and Swing’s onboard computer does the rest.
Return to home also requires a one-button command. If you fly too far and the controller’s signal is lost, you don’t even need a button. Return to home will activate automatically.
Don’t be alarmed by the landing. Swing lands propellers down; it’s designed to do that safely.
Parrot Swing is fun. It can do more than fly straight up or down, hover, and power along smoothly in the horizontal plane orientation. Swing can perform aerobatics, such as loops, and remain under control. And here’s the cool part: All it takes is the press of a button.
Parrot Swing is fast. In plane mode, the Parrot Swing can hit a top speed of 18.4 mph. That’s really rapid. Almost any mini quadcopter would have a tough time keeping up with it.
You command your minidrone/plane with the included twin-joystick Flypad controller. It also has an assortment of command buttons — not too many, so you won’t get confused. By syncing your smartphone to the Flypad, you see flight data, including battery reserves, on the smartphone screen.
You can stay aloft for more than 8 minutes with the Parrot Swing. It all depends on which orientation the drone is in.
Flying as a quadcopter, in vertical orientation, the battery will power Swing for up to 7 minutes.
Flying as a plane, in horizontal orientation, draws less power. Swing can stay aloft for about 8 minutes, 20 seconds as a plane. The fun part of that is that Parrot Swing flies faster as a plane.
You don’t need to pay for a charger to replenish your Parrot Swing battery. A USB port and the included USB cord allow you to charge right off a computer. With an AC wall plug adaptor, you could recharge even faster.
